Joyful Sadness

Sometimes healing looks like breaking. Sometimes joy lives in the same place as the sorrow. ♡

    About the book

The house needed everything. New joists, a raised foundation, a full plumbing and electric overhaul. I walked through it the first time holding my breath, and I understood the place immediately, because I was in the same condition.

Joyful Sadness is the story of the years I stopped resisting and let grief and gladness exist in the same house. This is a book about a marriage that had to be rebuilt from the frame up, a family that stayed while it happened, and what God does with a heart that has finally stopped pretending it isn't cracked.

    About Emily

    Emily Kathryn Reed

I'm Emily Kathryn Reed. You may know me as ReedPurposed on Instagram — the one tearing out subfloors and rebuilding vintage campers.

For twelve years I've made worn-out houses livable again. I live in a small town outside Dallas with my husband and our three children. Joyful Sadness is the story underneath all that work.
